Monastery Under Stone Oncasesti

Romanian Orthodox Church with «Saint Paraskevi" from subsidiaries in stone was built in 1797, which can be seen from what has încrestătura above the door, entrance, with Cyrillic and Romanian figures. Under Stone Oncăşeşti hamlet or you might have the same length as the village of Lower Sălciua, about 600 years. The church is historic, though the parish does not have any act of declaring them. According to oral tradition, they say that the present church was built on the site of an old church, called the Hermitage "Our Lady" which was destroyed by General Bucow. Monks of the Hermitage would be hidden in a hurry with all the treasure of the monastery, a cave in Mount Bedeleu. The idea that there was a monastery here, can be strengthened and some notes in Cyrillic, located in an old book called "Romanian Book of Barlaam's teaching or boiler", since 1643, copy of which was kept in good condition, belongs to the old churches. Bookmarks at page 28, on the back, said: "This holy and divine book called Paucenie is the holy and divine gios monasteries from willow trees, which is called Oncăşeşti, bought with good money and be for ever the monastery , during 1726 ... "The old monastery is kept in place of now, precious icons, of which emerges Deisis with halo and stucco decoration in pure spirit Brancovan and icons of 1753: St. Nicholas, with payment Fostoc of Constantine; Mary and Child, painted on the ground aureolele with vegetable, green and silver colored icons that keeping proper reserves, we attribute the painter George fortress Pond. Current church icons are the late eighteenth century, each entry of which paid.The present church was built of pine wood and covered with shingles. In the years 1967-1968, faithful knowing that is historic, old shingles covered, which started to rot, with galvanized. Church has shaped vessel being worked into shape across the wooden churches of Transylvania. Church walls, pine wood, the oak foundation, a rectangular sign with decroşată apse, polygonal, with five sides. The west façade was added, probably in mid-nineteenth century, an open porch with columns and hangers carved and fretted boards palimarului with reason, with access via a ladder attached, covered with a Polat under gutter slope (as the house). Above the narthex is a short bell gazebo in brackets, and fretted edges, carved pillars, along the lines of crosses in the cemetery.
